This was our first service project with Southern Crescent Veterans Services. The Veterans organization had recognized a need and was in the process of collecting gently used shoes for veteran families in need.

Rotary members distributed boxes for collection to their place of business and other non-member locations to make drop off easy. The shoe collection locations were promoted through various local social media outlets. Many Rotary members cleared the shoes from their own closet that they were not planning to wear any longer.

Approximately 45 new and gently worn shoes were collected.

At the Rotary Club luncheon on October 2, 2023, the shoes were presented to the organization’s CEO, Master Sergeant (Ret) Baisden, Bronze Star Afghanistan Disabled Veteran.
