Ferst Readers Character Contest

The Henry County Rotary Club participated in the annual fundraising Character Contest for Ferst Readers.

Children in the Ferst Readers literacy program receive a bookstore-quality, age-specific book and resources mailed to them at home every month until their fifth birthday. This access to books helps create a language-rich environment in the home and gives children a head start at reading before Kindergarten.

Funds recorded in this project were from all contestants. The money went directly to Ferst Readers.

This project enabled the club to gain exposure and recruit members due to the visibility of the contest.

In addition to the fundraiser, the club used the characters in a public image campaign using the theme to participate in a well attended Scarecrow Contest that lasted the month of October as well.
